To operate the sandblaster safely, it is equipped with a remote control connected to the handle of the operator’s lance. This system, mounted on a pneumatic distributor separate from the sandblasting unit, comprises an air supply solenoid valve and a pneumatic decompression valve.
The operator can start or stop the abrasive blast by simply operating the trigger located near the blast nozzle.
This remote control device—electrically operated at low voltage (or pneumatically operated for ATEX-rated booths)—functions as a “dead-man” safety system.
The operator’s protective equipment includes:
– a full-face helmet (Pano or Straight type) equipped with a hose,
– a special leather suit and a pair of gloves,
– a compressed-air climate control unit (hot or cold),
– a dual-cartridge air filter (particulate filter and activated carbon).
